Instructor Development™

Objectives

The Instructor Development Program enables FreemanGroup clients to have internal resources for training and developing existing and new managers in the service delivery system. In short, the FreemanGroup client will have the capability to become self-sufficient with a quality service training process and a viable in-house resource that will fulfill the following objectives:

  • To facilitate and coordinate all Foundations™ Workshops within your properties.
  • To implement a full service delivery process practically and efficiently.
  • To adapt the techniques and skills learned to run other management development sessions.
  • To act as a resource for senior management in focusing on all service delivery issues within each hotel.
  • To design and adapt supervisory, management, and employee development programs within the company.

Who Should Attend

Quality Assurance Manager, Corporate Human Resource Director, Directors of Training, Training Managers, or any manager/supervisor from an operational department who demonstrates strong people skills and a natural training ability (to carry out field training).

All participants must sign a license agreement prior to attending the course, limiting them to run the FreemanGroup's Foundations™ Workshop only for your company.

Method

The development process involves two (2) phases:

  • Attendance at our Instructor Development Program followed by internship in FreemanGroup's offices.
  • Certification to run the FreemanGroup's Foundations™ Worhshop.

INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

This course is a core of the FreemanGroup development process. It focuses on the basic techniques of instruction combined with practical training structures. The participants are given specific skills needed to instruct, centered on these disciplines:

  • Developing content of sessions.
  • Handling of presentation equipment.
  • Facilitating group discussion.
  • Platform presentation skills.
  • Handling of individual's needs.
  • Preparation of materials and session plans.

We analyze each of the 15 modules for the Foundations™ Workshop from an instructor's perspective. Exercises, role-plays, and the methodology that best help the trainee learn are discussed.

Participants are assigned three modules to prepare and conduct in front of the group; these are all videotaped. Each one is critiqued by the group on the specific skill areas of instruction. Later they receive one-on-one feedback from the FreemanGroup instructor utilizing the videotape.

This takes a full 11 days of uninterrupted instruction. Strict disciplines are applied in terms of start/ finish times, quality of work produced, meal times, phone calls, visitors, and overall activity. Days average 10 hours and evenings are spent preparing assignments (i.e., writing session plans and practicing presentations).

The course is immediately followed by three days of coaching with FreemanGroup Senior Instructors in developing the balance of the training sessions, and implementing a practical training system within your properties.

CERTIFICATION

Each participant is allotted 60 days to complete his or her final preparation and agree upon a date to co-facilitate a Foundations™ Workshop with the FreemanGroup instructor at one of your properties. We will assess their skill level at that time and determine if additional workshops must be scheduled for co-facilitation or whether they meet the requirements immediately.
